The links below are excellent resources for you to use at home with your child. These have been selected to support the development of your child’s love of reading, word reading skills and reading comprehension skills.
1. Oxford Owl – click the owl below to visit a site full of advice for parents/carers about how to support your child’s reading (as well as other subject areas). School has purchased a subscription to this site, which allows your child to access 250 ebooks – all that they have to do is login using their class login details (which have been sent home). This amazing resource can be accessed on a laptop, PC or tablet (iPad as well as android).

2. The Book Trust Bookfinder is an easy way for you to find the perfect book for you, your family and friends. In just a few clicks you can find up to date recommendations of books for children. You simply select the age of your child, the type of book that they enjoy and this site then provides summaries of the books that it suggests for your child.

3. Lexia – is a tried and tested reading intervention that school has invested in. We target specific children who may need an extra push with their reading, they may need the 1:1 support that this online system provides or it maybe that they would benefit from the extra challenge that it can provide. If your child in selected to be part of this reading intervention, we will contact you to explain why they have been chosen, how you can support the intervention at home and we will also provide your child with their own user name and password so that they can access the system at home as well as in school.
